Guns their new album is amazing, relevant and rocking! We all love singing “I Wanna Be Your Man” (even us girls) and closed the show that night with “Rip and Tear”. Guns brought the hose down rocking it out with Electric Gypsy, Rip and Tear, and of course The Ballad of Jane. It was a party atmosphere at Amos on Wednesday when L.A. Lewis played the part well in his devil mask, flipping his tongue out. They only played a couple tracks off the new album. L.A Guns has a long history and huge library of songs to choose from… the show is never long enough to get them all in! There are a lot of bands from the 80s that you wish would just stick to their old music, some trying to recreate themselves and doesn’t quite cut it. Guns in 1990 when I was 17 years old and now they sound just as good as they did back then. Phil Lewis went offstage and came back as “The Devil You Know”, the title track off their new album just released March 29th. With Ace Von Johnson on rhythm guitar, Johnny Martin on bass/vocals and Scot Coogan on drums, this band is still relevant and kicking ass. Opening with “Over the Edge”, the band played some favorites “Electric Gypsy”, “Kiss My Love Goodbye”, “Never Enough” and “The Ballad of Jane”. Guns took some time to hit the stage, but were so worth the wait! Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns were back together again. Taz Taylor, originally from the UK, came to California with a backpack, a little cash and a big dream in 1997. His band always draws a crowd who come early to see them perform. With Barney Firks on bass and Val Trainor on drums, Taz Taylor says, “Who needs lyrics?” Taz Taylor is a San Diego favorite who has been special guest for The Last in Line, John 5, Uli Jon Roth, UFO, Ace Frehley, Lynch Mob and many more. It was a night to remember what rock is supposed to sound like. Guns with special guest Taz Taylor rocked Ramona Mainstage on August 10th, 2019.
